SUMMER SEASON MEETING
Tuesday 16 October, 5:00pm in Room 23
This meeting is for all athletes, families and people interested in triathlon or our regular training. We’ll discuss our plans for training, events, our approach to athlete development and our safety procedures. We’d love to see you there and hear your input.
OTAGO SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ DUATHLON
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Otago Secondary School Duathlon last Sunday. With Laurie gaining a second placing in the Senior category and Zach with his 3rd in the Junior – and everyone’s mutual support – it was a great result all around. Thanks, also, to everyone’s families who organised the transport, accommodation and team support. You all represented Mount Aspiring College brilliantly. Check out the photos
THANK YOU
While I’m at it: thanks also to Merryn for her swim coaching and frequent support at our training sessions. Merryn also spends a lot of time working with me behind the scenes planning the training sessions and over-seeing the programme’s future development. We’re so fortunate to have access to your experience and expertise, Merryn.
Pete and Alex also deserve a regular mention for your frequent support of the Friday rides. Your presence and guidance has made a real difference. Belinda has joined us for some of our Monday swims too, and has been a real help during our extended run sessions.
On top of all this wonderful community support – I can’t go on without thanking Sam who has committed hundreds of hours of his own time to running the club. This week he was unable to attend the swim session due to an injury skiing the prior weekend, however, apart from this, he has attended EVERY training session we have run this year. He’s been actively involved in the planning of our sessions. He always manages the lead group. Without his commitment and enthusiasm, it’s unlikely that the club would have developed to this point – and he does it all with a self-effacing good humour and without any expectation of anything in return.
Our club is all about participation, and alongside the excellent commitment of the student athletes, we welcome family members and members of the community to join us in all of our training sessions. They’re designed to accommodate all levels and abilities and are a lot of fun. If you have it in mind that you’d like to join any of our regular sessions, simply let Sam or me know and we’ll make sure you have all the information you need.
Righto!
Chris and Sam
