OPEN WATER SWIMMING
As soon as the snow disappears from Mt Roy, we’ll be looking to start our open water swimming sessions. In order to prepare for this, it’s time to start looking about for a wetsuit. You don’t need to start out with a brand new high-tech hydrodynamic option – all you need is something that fits, that gives you some buoyancy, that keeps you warm and that offers enough mobility around the shoulder to allow you to swim freestyle. If you need help sourcing a wetsuit – or have a spare one you can offer to the club – please do let us know.
Our training and event calendar can be found at: http://trisport.mtaspiring.edutronic.net/2018/08/25/training-calendar/ – and you can merge it with your own device if you like
EVENT PLAN 2018-2019
Our event plan for 2018-2019 is now published. All feedback is welcome.
We need to hear from you reasonably soon if you’re interested in competing in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Road Race (Running) champs in Dunedin. This will be a great chance for us to see where we fit in to the national scene for our style of running, and could be a very good time if a number of us want to attend. Please check out the event page and fill out the expression of interest form if you’re keen to go. If enough people indicate their interest, we’ll organise team transport and accommodation.
CENTRAL OTAGO AND WAKATIPU CYCLE CLUB
We’re currently in discussion with the Central Otago Wakatipu Cycling club to incorporate some of their calendar of events and races into our club calendar. Some of our club already regularly ride with the COWCC on Sundays, but the plan is to formalise the link – and co-ordinate with them so they’re ready for us should we elect to show up en masse. More on this soon.
Our club is all about participation, and alongside the excellent commitment of the student athletes, we welcome family members and members of the community to join us in all of our training sessions. They’re designed to accommodate all levels and abilities and are a lot of fun. If you have it in mind that you’d like to join any of our regular sessions, simply let Sam or me know and we’ll make sure you have all the information you need.
Righto!
Chris and Sam
