Congratulations to everyone from the club on your success at Get to Go last week. That’s a good sign that not only your training, but your teamwork, is starting to show results. Even in these early days!
This weekend some of the club are going to be competing in the Otago Secondary Schools Duathlon champs down in Mosgiel. While we haven’t had this event on our calendar, and therefore haven’t focused the training and preparation for it, we will make sure that the training sessions on Thursday and Friday are focussed on aspects of that race that will help the most.
THURSDAY:Run|Bike|Run transitions.
Bring your bike along tomorrow. I’ll go through the basics and some tricks to speed up your transitions – and also make sure you all know the rules for transitions so you don’t get any penalties!
I also posted one our website a good Global Triathlon Network guide to the T2 Transition. We’ll talk about the T1 Duathlon transition tomorrow.
FRIDAY: Non-Drafting races and the ‘envelope’.
We’ve contacted the organisers of Sunday’s Duathlon to find out if they’re going to allow drafting in the secondary schools races and haven’t yet heard back – but regardless, we’ll use Friday’s ride to go through the basics of drafting envelopes and some success strategies.
MONDAY: Merryn’s Technique Sessions.
We’re really lucky to have Merryn along again to our swim session. This Monday she’s going to concentrate on the slower swimmers lane, giving everyone some individualised input and a couple of personal drills to slot into our group training. If you’re usually in Lane 3, you won’t want to miss this!
Please subscribe to and bookmark our club website at http://trisport.mtaspiring.edutronic.net/ so you can keep up to date with everything that’s happening in the club, and to access additional information, training programmes and our training calendar.
Don’t forget to block out Tuesday 16 October at 5:00pm for our Summer Launch Meeting
