Weekly Update – 23 June 2019

Our weekly training plan, a link to select our new club skinsuits, and more information about the South Island Schools’ Cycle Race.

This week we do a bit of prep for the South Island Road Cycle Comps and we get into our group training in ways where everyone can put their Term 2 coaching into practice. It’s a volume week!

Monday 24 June

Club Swim – 7:00pm. Recreation Centre – Club Fitness Swim: Lane 3, 4 and 5

Our club fitness swim will always be free to all comers.

Thursday 27 June

Club Run Val’s in the Northern Hemisphere so we’ll all be heading out for a recreational Run with Chris (Mt Iron Summit). Meet Room 23 at 3:30 pm All welcome.

Friday 28 June – The Shortest Day

Club Ride: Gladstone Road Individual Time Trial – Meet Room 23 at 3:30 pm.

We’ll also use this opportunity to measure the ‘roll out’ of the bikes of students competing in the South Island Road Race to make sure they’re within the tolerances that are required.

Remember to bring lights and warm clothing – now that daylight savings has ended it’s going to get dark and cold fast in the evenings. Lights are now compulsory for all riders

South Island Secondary Schools’ Cycle Race

This event is being held on 6-7 July (the first weekend of the holidays). There are 13 club members attending and we’ve got a page on this site dedicated to collecting together all the details.

Club Skin Suits

The school sports hub team have made contact with their agent at Tinelli. This link takes you to the options that can be produced in our club colours – get back to me if you have a preference before we make any orders. Like the club trisuits, we plan to purchase some for the club that you can hire, and you’re also welcome to buy your own.

Club Segments

If you’re a GPS user, we have developed specific Strava Segments for our training locations which are all collected on our site. Check them out to see where you stand on the league tables!

Our training and event calendar can be found at: http://trisport.mtaspiring.edutronic.net/training-calendar/ – and you can merge it with your own device if you like

Our club is all about participation, and alongside the excellent commitment of the student athletes, we welcome family members and members of the community to join us in all of our training sessions. They’re designed to accommodate all levels and abilities and are a lot of fun. If you have it in mind that you’d like to join any of our regular sessions, simply let me know and we’ll make sure you have all the information you need.

Righto!
